We are proud to be partnering with Crossroads Writers Collective to retreat at the farm September 26th-28th.

Crossroads Writers Collective is a Chicago-based organization for Black and Queer poets, writers, playwrights, songwriters, essayists, screenwriters, and just about anything else you can do with words and a pen.

Black queer folks have been known throughout history to be rule-breakers and innovators, creating literature and art that offers a unique perspective of the world through our intersectional lived experiences. CWC aims to provide a space for Black queer folks to create, be inspired, and commune with one another through a series of generative workshops and community building events.

Since its inception, they have hosted a number of writing workshops and field trips for the collective that center on themes of bibliomancy, revision/remixing, Black ecopoetics, and ekphrastic writing. In the in-between times, we meet biweekly for generative writing and peer reviewing at various locations on the South and West sides of the city.

With current federal and state attacks on transgender folks across the country, the necessity of safety amidst survival has become even more of a priority in our mission to foster a safe space for Black queer writers. While survival isn't new to us, we are looking for avenues of ease and safety that can help us to access and nurture our creativity as a means of thriving.

Your donation helps cover the cost of writers from Crossroads Writers Collective with transportation, food and administrative costs.

The retreat will be filled with community building, skill sharing, communal dinners, writing workshops, and a culminating fireside open mic.
